Reading, Writing, and The Mind

Reading is something I enjoy because it opens and expands perspectives and offers food for thought, personal enrichment, and growth. Questions such as the nature of the mind perplex me. The human mind and the way that it works and endlessly navigates through things like ideas, communication, art, and even sleep deeply interest me.

I started reading literature with an ingrained, voracious passion twenty years ago. Since that time I've read hundreds of good books and tried taking a stab at writing myself. The problem of writing though is no simple one. There are literally infinite roads you can follow. That in itself can be quite daunting with a blank screen or page staring you in the face. Not only should you choose one over millions of viable potential directions and topics. The choice you do make pushes your other options to oblivion or some other time. And time, I think you can appreciate, is both something wonderful, and for almost everyone, albeit some more than others, something you just simply can't afford to waste.
